The Grand Palace is a must see, plus nearby is the Wat Phra Kaew (Temple), another must see. In the evening/night check out Khao San Road or if want a little more on the wild side check out Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy or Patpong. As for hotels there are so many to pick and choose from; for me the Sawasdee group of hotels do fine, they are nice, clean, air conditioned, good value for your money and near the main attractions.
